so ati had a good idea to go down to our stream in our backyard and see if we had any fiddle heads growing cause they start growing in the beginning of may... and YUP.. low and behold, we did.. so we went to the store and got some mason jars and pickling stuff and decided to give it a whirl... we just made them on sunday so i cannot say how they taste yet... but i'll let you know when they are ready and we try them..
cut the stems and wash the fiddle heads...
boil the water....
add the vinegar....
white vinegar..
some salt..
put an even amount of fiddle heads in the jars... about 1/2 way... then add one bay leaf per jar...
then you add the pickling ingredient...
kosher dill.... YUMMY!
i lined them up so they looked pretty....
add some dill.... as much as you'd like to flavor it...
yummy ingredients...
add a few garlic cloves...
don't they look great up to this point... add the remaining fiddle heads all the way to the top..
side shot...
all ready to have the water, vinegar and sugar...
FINAL... i'll be back with more pics when we try them..... wish me luck!!!
